About The Ruddy Potato
The Ruddy Potato opened its present location in 2001, in a custom built building in Village Square, adding The Ruddy Kitchen Cafe and Market Garden in 2007. The Ruddy Potato is privately owned and managed, supporting a full complement of local staff.
Our Mission: To provide healthy food, encourage environmental sustainability and healthy community in a vibrant and friendly atmosphere.
Our Values: We are guided by the principles of honesty, fairness and integrity in our business practices. We support environmental preservation, health for people and the planet, and sustainable community development.
Our Buying Policy: We offer healthy food at reasonable prices. We strive to offer organic, natural and conventional alternatives, with an emphasis on buying local products and fairly traded imported products, when local alternatives are not available. We aim to offer healthy and delicious food with the occasional decadent treat!
A message from the owner:
We aspire to be in a world where people cook, grow and eat the majority of the foods they require to nourish themselves from within their own local community. We understand that this is a ambitious target and many other factors influence our customers’ life style choices. However, we encourage our customers to aspire towards a healthier life knowing that practical considerations always step in to modify their choices.
We believe that cooking at home, understanding the origin of the foods being eaten is a fundamental part of living and of understanding the mystery of life itself. Realistically, we lead busy lives and there are times when buying a ready-made meal is a welcome solution to feeding the family. This is where The Ruddy Kitchen and it's product range comes in. We provide whole foods for the whole family made from quality healthy, preferably local ingredients, in the heart of our community.
